I bought the XOLO Q800 by Lava Mobiles yesterday. Here is my experience with the phone. You may also visit the Official page for Specs at below link.

Starting with the review

In the Box

Clean premium packing by Xolo. You get a slide box.  The contents are as follows

  • Xolo Q800 Handset
  • USB Charger
  • Micro USB Data Cable
  • In Ear phones
  • Screen Guard (perfect fit)

Exterior Body

Perfect Size I would say. Fits easily in your palm and can be Operated just by one hand. Body has a premium look. Very Well Built. NO CHEAP LOOKS!!

 Display

Q800 comes with a 4.5" IPS Display. Screen looks good with Vibrant Color. Very Crisp image reproduction. There is no noticeable distortion. Brightness is too good.

Camera

Both Primary and Secondary Camera are great. Superb image quality and clarity. At least i am Happy with the performance. :) [only primary cam sample added above]

Video recording is awesome. Very clear even at low lighting conditions.

Audio

Decent audio quality. Speakers are loud. I did not notice any distortion. Stock Music player does not allow you do any tweaking. Ear phones are Ok. Phone Clarity is good.

Video

Again, great video playback. HD videos played with no problem at all. Only downside i found was that the videos were not so crisp (maybe i felt that coz i compared it with the Xpeira phone i have). Decent enough for average user.

Touch

One thing that we all fear from a budget phone and that too from a 'Not so famous' brand is touch. I have to say Xolo has taken care of all your fears. The 5 point multi touch in this phone is very responsive. Just like any high end phone (Xperia NXT, Galaxy series) would have. I am very  much impressed with the touch response.

AnTuTu Benchmark Results

Z-Device Test

 Closing Comments

I have not used/tested all the sensors(Accelerometer,Gyroscope,Magnetometer,Ambient light sensor,Proximity sensor) as of now. Probably i might add later. Battery is decent enough. Lasts for a day on average use. I have not tested the device with Heavy games yet. But some general games that i tried ( Temple Run 2, Subway Surf, Zombie Highway) ran smoothly. I also installed a lot of Live wallpapers (Magic Trees crashed every time :( )

Now, if you ask me whether to go ahead with this phone or not. The answer is DEFINITELY YES.

For a mere 12499 INR, XOLO Q800 is a great package with no noticeable cons.

I would rate Xolo Q800 a 4 out of 5.

Hope this helped!! :)

Get rid of everyday Trojans that come through Flash drives

you can also follow this method, works for me.

1) connect the flash drive to your PC
2) wait till its ready for use.
3) DO NOT open or explore the drive or My Computer
4) open 'command prompt' and type this

X:\> attrib -h -s -a -r autorun.inf
X:\> del autorun.inf

(where X: is the drive letter for your Pen Drive)
5) now you may explore the drive and del the other related files.

How to remove 'amvo.exe' Trojan horse?

don't know the official name of the Trojan but it comes in form of an executable file 'amvo.exe' and a process 'u.bat'.

problem:

1) whenever i try to open any drive it waits for a while and then opens in new window. i checked with the Task Manager for the delay and found that a process named "u.bat" is created as soon as i click any drive and then ends quickly.
2) I cannot see my hidden files.

i have not faced any more problems so i don't know.

files found

autorun.inf
u.bat
d.com

these three files are found on every drive and are super hidden(so cannot be deleted).

amvo.exe
amvo(n).dll
-- where n varies from 0 to .....

these two files are found in %windir%/windows/system32, again these are super hiddden.

solution:

First of all exit all the programs and now open task manager using 'ctrl+alt+del', go to processes and end the process named 'explorer.exe'.(before this disable the 'system restore')

Now, using Task Manager open New Task(Run), type 'cmd'.
in the command prompt type ->

cd c:\windows\system32
attrib -h -s -r -a amvo.exe
del amvo.exe
attrib -h -s -r -a amvo0.dll
del amvo0.dll

now the files from system32 folder are deleted.

now type 'cd\' in command prompt to goto root directory.

type ->
c:\> attrib -h -s -r -a autorun.inf
attrib -h -s -r -a u.bat
attrib -h -s -r -a d.com
del autorun.inf
del u.bat
del d.com

this will only clean the files form the c:, to remove from all the drives repeat all the commands for all the drives(including the pen drive). [ d:, e:, f:, g:,......]

Now the files are removed from your PC but the registry entries must be deleted. So, you may now close the the command prompt and open registry editor by going to New Task(run) and type-> regedit

In the registry editor goto Find and search for 'amvo', delete all the entries related to it.
again search for 'u.bat' and delete all the entries related to it.

Now your PC is free from the Trojan. Restart your PC and check if the problem persists then repeat the above steps.

Note: Your PC is now free from virus but the changes that it has done to the registry will not change you will have to do it manually. If you have a backup copy of your registry then restore it . Otherwise manual process is given below.

Goto Run and type 'regedit'(without quotes)

now navigate to

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\NOHIDDEN

on the right window look for the DWORD 'CheckedValue' and
make its value 2, look for another DWORD 'DefaultValue' and make its value 2

again navigate to

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL

on the right window look for the DWORD 'CheckedValue' and
make its value 1, look for another DWORD 'DefaultValue' and make its value 2

Restart your PC and you may now be abale to see the hidden files.
